New Pacific Metals Retains VP China General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer

New Pacific Metals Corp. (TSX-V:NUX) ("New Pacific") is pleased to announce that it has appointed Mr. Philippe Rheault as Vice President, China General Counsel, stationed in Beijing. Mr. Rheault has spent the last five years of his diplomatic career in China including three years as head of Canada's Consulate in Chongqing, responsible for China's southwestern region. Previously, Mr. Rheault has also worked as a corporate lawyer in Montreal, helping to negotiate several mining joint ventures and acquisitions, notably for Canadian companies active in South America. A member of the Quebec Bar since 1995, Mr. Rheault is fluent in Chinese, Spanish and French and is conversant in the policies and regulations related to the mining industry in China. His appointment will prove to be of significant benefit to the Company as it embarks on the next phase of its evolution towards its goal of becoming one of the world's most profitable and significant silver mining companies through the development and acquisition of silver projects in China.

New Pacific is also pleased to announce that it will appoint Ms. Grace Soo as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Soo has 18 years of progressively senior and practical work experience in the financial management of publicly traded companies. Between 1987 and 2004, Ms. Soo led in her varying capacities of Director of Finance and Treasurer, Vice President of Finance and Administration, and Vice President of Internal Audit and Business Risk Management for the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation. During this period, Ms. Soo, as a team member, played a key role in the organization's growth from 5 to over 3,000 employees and ten operations. Her achievements contributed to the Company's transition from a private company to a public company trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange with a market capitalization in excess of $1.5 billion and annual gross revenues in excess of $450 million. Ms. Soo has been a Certified General Accountant since 1987. Ms. Soo will bring with her a successful track record of driving operational efficiency and effectiveness, identifying and mitigating risk, and will be responsible for financial reporting.

Ms. Irene Wong has resigned as Chief Financial Officer to focus on her proprietary accounting business. New Pacific thanks her for her great contribution and services and wishes her success in her future endeavours.

Incentive stock options of 164,000 shares have been granted to the employees of the Company.
